How long do I smoke chicken drumsticks and leg quarters?

I have 16 drumsticks and 8 leg quarters. About how long do they need to be on the smoker? Im using Apple juice and garlic cloves for the liquid and I chose applewood to smoke with! Im thinking of switching to mesquite half way through. Any thoughts? Help a guy out?

Smoke at about 220 degrees until the temperature at the center of the chicken thigh reaches at least 165 degrees.

  1. Use a meat thermometer to test. You want to make sure the internal temp of the thigh gets high enough to kill bacteria, just like cooking. Could take several hours to most of the day.
