For all 50 different quarters, each had to be designed and then stamp dies made. How much did that all cost?
It’s a self-supported program.
The cost to taxpayers is nothing. In fact, the U.S. Government will make money on the 50 State Quarters™ Program. The cost to manufacture a quarter is about 5 cents, providing a profit of approximately 20 cents per coin. Mint profits go to the general fund of the U.S. Treasury to help fund U.S. Government operations, reduce the need for new or higher taxes, and reduce the Federal Government’s debt. No tax revenues will be used in either the manufacture or the promotion of the state quarters. All costs are funded from the Mint’s earned revenue.
Designs were solicited from citizens of each state. The selection committee was volunteer citizens. The cost of the tool and die is considered in the $0.05 cost.
How much money would you have if you filled a 5 gallon water bottle with quarters?
The answer would vary a lot depending on how tightly the quarters are packed. But if you really want to know, here’s what I would do: Get a bunch of quarters– say, 50 or so. Toss them in a measuring cup. See how many ounces of space they occupy. Compute the number of Quarters per ounce volume (not to be confused with ounce weight). Then compute the number of ounces in 5 gallons and use this to compute the number of quarters per 5 gallons.
I have just inherited quite a few jars and containers of state quarters from my mother. She would save everyone she came across, and throw them in a container. She also has a few states that are rolled in clear plastic as well as paper rolls from the bank. Should I count these, cash them in, and spend the money, or is there a chance at all that I should save them for my daughter as they may be worth something more than .25 down the road when they quit being made?
If they are in really good shape, some of them may be worth more than .25 cents now. I’ve seen several lists showing the whole sale value of some of these coins to be between .25 – .40 cents. I would do some research and check out ebay.
If your daughter is elementary age, I would put the collection in a book and let her help you. She could learn about the states, etc. I did this with my two daughters until they became teenagers and lost a lot of interest. But, they never spent their quarters; they still have them in their books.
The idea goes that coins will always go up in value depending on their quality. My grandmother gave me her penny collection. These Pennies are now worth about .03 to .15 cents each now.
There were several "errors" in these state Quarters. If you have one of the error quarters, it could be worth several dollars and on up depending on the type of error. You can find out about the legitamate errors on the internet.
Have fun!
We are going to be starting a fundraiser and I thought it would be fun to see if we could get an empty 2 liter pop bottle full of Quarters. I am wondering how much money that would raise for us.
None, the top on the bottle is too small to fit a quarter into.
I have 6 leg quarters with dry rub on them. I am either going to make tin foil packets and grill them OR just put tin foil UNDER them when I cook them. I know that you should put a temp thingie in them, but I don’t have one. Can anyone tell me a reliable time so that they would be GOOD and COOKED if cooked on Medium or Medium Low. Please someone help me.
Thank you!
chicken leg Quarters is what i assume you are talking about. I grill them on high until they are browned nicely (about 10-12 minutes). I move them off the fire and close the grill lid and "roast" them for another 12-15 minutes depending on the thickness of the legs. To do this you need to keep one burner on one side and move the chicken to the other side of the grill.
I usually have no problem coming up with ideas for dinner, but today i am just stuck. I have 4 pounds of chicken leg Quarters that I would like to have for dinner tonight. Please Help!!! Oh and I have kids, so please not spicy.
Take a shallow roasting pan, or cake pan – lay a bed of cut potatoes, yams, onions, carrots, or whatever you have on hand on the bottom. Place the chicken leg quarters on the top, skin side up. Sprinkle whatever seasoning you desire on the chicken. Put a small amount of water in the pan for steaming. Cook in the oven (375 or 400) for at least an hour or until the chicken is fully cooked. The water steams the chicken and the fat is cooked down into the bed of veggies. It’s a simple preparation and once in the oven you can just forget about it. This is my favorite way to eat chicken.
My wife explained that old quarters are very rare and valuable- I cannot recall what dates she mentioned. Something like quarters made before 1929?? Something about them having been made from silver?
Is this so?

Well I just started playing the drinking game Quarters and I don’t know how to aim or how to get the quarter to bounce………..How do I do that
If you want really be impressive, roll it off the bridge of your nose and let it bounce two to three times into the glass.
Takes lots of practice. Once you get good at it get really cocky and nobody else will be able to aim right. Just be prepared to handle the consequences of an "off" night.
I have gone through at least three pairs of low Quarters since joining the military & they’ve all been horrible. Any occasion I’m on my feet a lot in those shoes, I feel the effects for days afterward. Does anybody have a recommendation on where I can get a more comfortable pair? Thanks.
I personnaly like the Bates Lites
Being that you are female…I don’t see how you can find ANY shoes that is comfortable…
I have noted of late that a number of my staff are slow in attending to my exacting needs, and perhaps need a little inducement.
In order to facilitate this, I intend installing a lightning conducter to the wall of their Quarters, with a cable connecting this to the metal frame of their bedsteads.
That should keep them on their toes.
Is it acceptable you ask ??? In this fine country of ours Sir Terrance, what a man does in the privacy of his own 700 acre estate, is his business. I think it’s a spiffing idea. Just make sure you don’t send them ‘Back To The Future !’
